Default Earbud Comparison

Earbud comparison

An interesting comparison from a rider that always wants a little more. Odd a $20 set rivaled the several hundred dollar sets.

I've tried to listen to music on longer trips, but I just don't like it. Probably because my equipment isn't the right one. Jefro on ST-owners.com points out exactly one of my problems:

The volume must be turned up much higher to compete with the wind blast
The only thing I can stand in my ears are the orange foam earplugs, I bought the expensive ($150) custom-fit DbBlocker earplugs but they hurt in my ears when I put my helmet on.

interesting specs on the ER-6i

Etymotic ER-6i (ER6i Isolator) specs - gdgt

34db while the average on foam plugs are...

Noise Reduction Earphones - webBikeWorld

32db.

I figure after a period of time boredom comes into play and it's tempting to make the route interesting with speed or toss on some music and enjoy a sedate ride a bit longer... sounds like an excuse to add another power jack for the phone.

LA --- I have to have music on long rides , mostly because my singing is a mix of a drunken Irishman and a dying donkey , that and nothing gets me in the groove for twisty pavement like Celine Dion ............. I use an MP3 with noise cancelling earbuds that help block out wind much like a foam ear plug ( they were pricey $$$) . I have talked to a few riders that swear the best method is using Helmet Speakers ( $50 - $120 brand dependant ) , and using the cheap foam ear plugs in conjunction with the speakers , the buds block out the wind and the speakers still get the music across without causing hearing loss ...........if you ride with music buds cranked up , it will damage your hearing ..........I SAID , IF YOU RIDE BUDS CRANKED.......

Yes but you missed the asterisk next to the 47 stating the exception.........
"If the victim brings it up in a conversation outside of said road trip then the above subsection need not apply"

This review on the ear buds is perfect timing for me as i am reading into different options and i want to see what is offered at this years bike show as well!!
