I saw it on the news....was not much left of bike. And the pick up was in bad shape also.

A Crotch Rocket.
Th old man obviously turned left in front of the bike.
My maxim is:.That's always the fault of the biker. No excuse for hitting the idiot turning left in front of you..
The biker was not analyzing traffic, not paying attention, obviously going too fast and killed an old man to boot...Which really sucks.
From the look of the door and the bike..he pile drived the old man to both their deaths.
On a positive note, One less idiot biker to worry about killing 'you' or a loved one.

Since you were not on site of the accident and very little is known of the circumstances I find your opinion (which I agree we all have right to) pretty harsh and soly based on your obvious dislike of speedbikes. I am totally baffled by the tone of your post and having been on the road as a rider for over 24 years and a professional driver (big rigs) for 10 years and still a commercial driver I see a lot of mistakes being made by all kind of vehicles and that's exactly why there is such thing called "an accident".

Maybe the old man didn't see the bike because of lack of peripheric vision or couldn't estimate the speed of the bike because he's maybe too old to drive (see how easy to fault someone based on prejudice and profiling).

The fact is that both families are suffering lost of loved ones and to accuse someone of being the cause of it is insensitive to say the least.

I welcomed you on this site yesterday but DO NOT welcome this kind of posting.

Have you know empathy at all? The generalization of old men driving, crotch rockets, rider's not paying attention, undue speeds is unbelievable.

At age 36 and 80 I see two mature individuals that leave behind family and friends. An accident on a freeway in perfect conditions assumes little to no reaction caused by either attention or excessive speeds. This is the start of the season so skills, bike bugs, anything can take your attention with fatal results. Cagers are not be used to seeing bikes so they may not be looking for you.

The response is completely uncalled for... The closing statement takes the cake... "One less idiot biker to worry about"... classy.

So how does a truck turning left in front of the motorcycle take the damage on the drivers side?

I disagree, it looks more to me like we have a new one to worry about.

Nice one Jim ...............you join the site to slag a biker who was killed by a turning vehicle , is it not at least 50% the vehicle drivers fault . Not sure what "maxim" you grew up with ???.........., welcome to the site and all , but ..........

The truck pulled out into the road to make a right turn and the bike hit him ..............speed ( if he was speeding ) would be the bikers only fault here .

Unhappy Fault does not matter...

In the end who's fault does not matter when someone loses there life. Our love of motorcycles can be deadly if we drop our guard for a second. Let's all just be careful out there.

RIP our brother biker.
